Oak Grove Park is situated in Klaipėda, Lithuania, within a modernist housing area. Revitalized in 2021, it has become a cherished place for the community. The park features two main areas: one for active recreation, equipped with sports facilities and playgrounds, and another for peaceful relaxation, allowing visitors to read, gather, or observe wildlife by the pond. A circular path connects these zones, ideal for walking, cycling, or rollerblading.

In 2015, the urbanist studio “PUPA / Life Over Space” crafted a revitalization plan for the neighborhood, emphasizing the enhancement of public spaces, including Oak Grove Park. This project, supported by the EU, involved community engagement through discussions and workshops, ensuring the design met the residents’ needs. The park’s layout caters to diverse preferences, featuring vibrant sports areas and serene spots for relaxation. A winding path connects various recreational zones, promoting exercise and social interaction among the community.

Oak Grove Park illustrates how revitalizing public spaces can positively impact urban neighborhoods. The area, characterized by high-density housing, has seen a decline over the years. By enhancing public areas, municipalities can significantly improve residents’ quality of life, encouraging outdoor activities and fostering community engagement.

By fostering environments that accommodate both active and quiet pursuits, the park encourages socialization, promotes health, and improves the overall quality of life for its community. Its success serves as a blueprint for similar projects throughout Lithuania and beyond.
