Text description provided by the architects:
Constructing a building on a corner integrates it into the urban landscape. In Cascais, where a garden-city ethos prevails, establishing a new structure means introducing a presence that enriches the environment.
However, the context alone does not suffice; it requires courage to create a lasting structure, which necessitates finding a unique order. Perhaps abstraction in architecture is essential for achieving tangible results.

In this project, the building’s form was influenced by the existing urban framework and the diverse typologies required by the program. The structure’s geometry and the desire to maximize sunlight and sea views guided the design for 15 residences.

The residences, unconstrained by the program, found meaning through the depth of the volume, allowing for a distribution gallery that enhances the spatial experience. The design accommodates one to four-bedroom units, maintaining variety in the overall architectural form.

The design achieved a harmonious balance between complexity and clarity, with the concrete structure reflecting a modernist legacy while integrating with the local context. The choice of materials, such as plaster, stone, and wood, enhances the interior environment, allowing for personal touches from future residents.

Ultimately, this architectural endeavor contributes to the urban fabric of Cascais, transforming terraces into gardens and creating a structure that resonates with the passage of time.
