If you were to analyze the blood of any cast member from Summer House during the summer, it would likely be composed of about 50% rosé, save for sober Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard when she was expecting. It’s surprising that no legal authorities have requested blood tests given their apparent fondness for the pink drink. Despite their penchant for causing drama among themselves, they seem to evade any legal troubles, even with their heavy consumption of rosé. Kyle Cooke can be seen enjoying it alongside his own drink brand, Loverboy, which he promotes passionately. To his credit, Loverboy is more enjoyable than anything from Bethenny Frankel’s Skinnygirl line. But why is rosé so popular in the Hamptons?
The Hamptons are synonymous with summer partying on the East Coast. A rosé shortage occurred a few summers ago due to its immense popularity. Yet, it’s quite expensive, with locals often feeling shortchanged when they pay $30 for a vodka soda at Surf Lodge after a lengthy wait. Opting for rosé is a much better choice to kick off the festivities. Additionally, the region is home to numerous vineyards, with Wölffer Estate being a popular spot for bachelorette parties or relaxed evenings with friends.
Rosé is Part of Hamptons Culture

Viewers have witnessed several cast outings on Summer House where they visit vineyards for wine tastings. A rosé brand, Hampton Water, is so frequently featured that it could be considered a character in its own right. Bottles of it are often seen in the sharehouse and on social media since they collaborate with many influencers.
Rosé is a go-to drink because it’s practical. In the Hamptons, the party never stops. From pre-gaming on the Jitney or Blade to house parties, clubs, and after-parties, the cycle continues. The next day starts with a boozy brunch where patrons might spend $90 on chicken tenders at Montauk Beach House or $97 for a lobster cobb salad at Duryea’s.
Consuming hard liquor all day under the sun could lead to dehydration. Moreover, the influx of influencers, inspired by binge-watching Gossip Girl, complicates the social scene from Memorial Day to Labor Day. They can be hard to avoid, and engaging in conversation can be unbearable without some social lubricant. Rosé helps make these interactions more tolerable.
Summer House Could Use a Change
Rosé isn’t the only summer drink for East Coasters. Spiked seltzers are everywhere, but Kyle’s Loverboy and Craig Conover’s Spritz Society are less favored compared to High Noon and White Claw, which dominate beach days and boat trips. Loverboy is a popular choice at many brand-sponsored events in the area, but it hasn’t gained much traction outside New York. The top canned beverage is Fisher’s Island Lemonade, boasting a hefty 9% alcohol content.
Perhaps the cast of Summer House should consider diversifying their drink options. While rosé is convenient, they could learn to mix a Southside cocktail, a popular choice among the preppy crowd. With cannabis now legal in New York, would a cannabis cocktail be a better alternative? Or even better, they could support Carl’s new sober bar, Soft Bar, which everyone advised him against starting. He’s even taken Soft Bar on the road with a mobile van, and perhaps an adaptogenic drink could revitalize the party scene. Summer House is available for streaming in the US on Peacock.
