Text description provided by the architects. Located in Pagrati, Athens, Moden Café occupies a ground-floor area within a 1970s building. Named after the original pastry workshop nearby, this café honors its heritage while adopting a modern design philosophy.

The café’s design celebrates the craft of pastries and coffee preparation, fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere that integrates seamlessly with the neighborhood. Custom elements enhance the welcoming environment for guests.

The design features clean lines and a neutral color palette, creating a cohesive and tranquil environment. Textured surfaces evoke the essence of dough and flour, adding warmth and familiarity. Custom inox and oak benches highlight the café’s offerings.

Central to the design, the kitchen and bar serve as a performance space for pastry and coffee preparation, emphasizing craftsmanship through transparency. Seating is arranged around the perimeter, encouraging interaction.

A fully open custom façade enhances the connection between the interior and exterior, flooding the space with natural light and linking it to the urban landscape.

Moden Café encourages a sense of presence. The interplay of design, natural light, and materials creates a tranquil ambiance, with every detail aimed at fostering simplicity and serenity for visitors.
