The architects describe the new municipal event hall, L’Agora, and the Ernest Hemingway media library as a refined representation of the distinct identity of Le Grau-du-Roi. This urban amphitheater is designed to blend with the cityscape and its natural surroundings, enhancing public space.

This public facility is strategically located in an urban redevelopment area, close to key amenities like the train station and cultural venues, fostering community engagement. Its positioning at the end of a major pedestrian thoroughfare enhances its visibility, resembling a lighthouse at the harbor entrance. This distinctive structure features a bold, wave-like silhouette that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding landscape of sea, dunes, and maritime activities.

The event hall serves as the foundation of this public complex, featuring textured concrete that reflects local natural elements. Above, a glass-walled level houses the media library, designed to maximize transparency and views.

With a simple yet effective design, the event hall provides a sturdy base for the complex. Its sandy-hued concrete mirrors local flora, while the upper media library level boasts expansive views through its glass walls.

Wood accents enhance the interiors and exteriors, fostering a cozy ambiance. The roof, a significant architectural feature, is clad in metal, resembling Mediterranean shells, while wooden underplanks reflect boat hulls. Terraces mimic the natural landscape, offering outdoor spaces for visitors.

This facility embodies principles of clarity, compactness, proximity, and sustainability, merging functionality with symbolism. Its architecture reflects the city’s heritage and natural surroundings, creating a new, iconic gathering space for residents.
