Still think Black Friday is only for retailers? We’d argue otherwise: it should matter to wholesale brands too. A 2024 survey found something interesting: retailers are purchasing wholesale orders in September and October in preparation for the bulk of their holiday purchasing. For wholesalers, that means Black Friday is about stocking your retailers with their best selling products. If you don’t have any orders coming in to help your retailer customers prepare for Black Friday, you are probably missing out on some serious opportunity.
Syndicate builds wholesale fashion suppliers and distributors their own online stores, so we have a stake in what you choose.
Why should a wholesale brand care about Black Friday?
Many wholesale brands only accept retailers’ holiday orders months in advance. Some only produce what’s been pre-ordered, and tell anyone who asks outside of this window, “we don’t carry any inventory.” In the past, that’s worked when retailers placed big orders early to sustain them through the season.
But that’s changing. Retailers are ordering less at a time… and ordering more often. As reported by Retail TouchPoints in October 2025, about 1 in 3 retailers said they were ordering in smaller batches.
At Syndicate, we think the wholesale brands that will succeed in the next few years will be the ones that can ship small, last-minute reorders. Black Friday is a good place to start.
1. Send your retailers a Black Friday Inventory Readiness Check
Email every current account before Black Friday and ask what they need. It starts the reorder conversation before their shelves are empty, not after. Copy this email and fill in the blanks:
Subject: Black Friday Inventory Readiness Check
Hi [first name],
Black Friday is Friday, November 27. Before the rush, a quick check on your [brand] stock:
- Which of our styles are selling fastest in your store right now?
- Roughly how many units of each style and size have sold since it arrived?
- What’s running low, and in which sizes?
- Would you like a reorder before Black Friday? Order by [cut-off date] and we’ll ship by [ship date].
Just reply to this email, or call us at [phone number].
[Your name]
[Brand]
Send it now, while there’s still time to restock. Then send a short reminder a few days before your cut-off date. For your biggest accounts, pick up the phone instead.
2. Track not just what you shipped to your retailers, but what’s selling in their stores.
Your wholesale orders tell you what retailers bought. They don’t tell you what their own customers bought. A style you shipped plenty of can sit on the shelf. Another can sell out in a week without anyone reordering it.
Ask your top accounts for their sell-through: how many units of each style and size sold this week? Then keep one simple list of the styles selling fastest across all your accounts. Those are your Black Friday best bets.
3. Offer last-minute restocks on your proven sellers
When a style is selling out in stores, your retailers want more of it before Black Friday, not after. Offer to restock those styles quickly, so retailers have more of what they know sells.
To do that, set aside a portion of your inventory for reorders. If you only produce to pre-orders, check what’s left from this season’s run and hold it for reorders. Next season, keep a small stock of your best sellers so you can capitalize on these opportunities yourself.
Give retailers a cut-off date: order by such-and-such a time, and it arrives before Black Friday.
4. Give retailers a reason to order early, or order more
Offer your retailers a discount when they:
- Order before a set date. For example, a discount on any reorder placed by November 13.
- Order a minimum quantity. A discount above a set number of units or dollars. Our post on wholesale order minimums covers how brands set them.
- Sell a “Shop the Look” package. A set of styles that go together, sold as one bundle at a better price, so the retailer buys more volume and can display the full look.
Before you set the discount, make sure it still leaves you a margin. Our guide to how to calculate wholesale price shows how.
If you also sell on Faire, read its pricing policy first (checked October 24, 2026). It says your prices there must be the same as or lower than anywhere else you sell, including your own wholesale site. So find out whether a discount you offer directly also has to apply on Faire. With Syndicate, you can sell at whatever prices you want.
And if you run your own Black Friday sale for shoppers, don’t undercut your retailers. Tell them your plans first, and send them photos they can use in their own Black Friday promotions.
5. Make reordering easy over the Black Friday weekend
A reorder that arrives by email on Saturday morning can sit until Monday. Decide now who answers the inbox that weekend.
Many buyers would rather reorder on their own. Gartner found that 67% of B2B buyers prefer buying without a sales rep, in a survey of 646 buyers (Gartner, March 2026). That’s across all industries, not just fashion.
Send your top accounts a reorder sheet with their own prices and your cut-off date.
How can Syndicate help with reorders?
Syndicate’s team provides expertise specifically for fashion and eCommerce. We build a wholesale store you own: your catalogue, each account’s own prices, a cart and a checkout. Your buyers can reorder in one click, at any hour, including over the Black Friday weekend. The store also keeps your inventory in sync.
It runs alongside email and PDF ordering, so your current buyers don’t have to change how they order. Your sales reps can use it too. You decide what’s public (photos, prices, minimums, styles), and only logged-in buyers see the rest. It also gives your search traffic and social media somewhere to send new buyers.
Every build includes research on up to 100 wholesale buyer leads. Every lead is vetted: we confirm it’s an active business, provide contact details, and set up their account on your store with you. One womenswear wholesaler we work with closed a six-figure deal within 90 days of starting with us, with a buyer from the leads we researched for them.
Tried a buyer portal once and nobody logged in? We email every buyer their login, and if they don’t log in, we email them to offer support. After launch, we teach you to manage the store. You own the domain, the hosting, the files and every login.
A store can be ready in as little as 7–10 days once we have the information we need. Builds that start mid-season, while products and inventory are still being finalized, have taken about 60 days. If you’re mid-season right now, plan on having it for next Black Friday, not this one.
You can finance it from 500 CAD a month over one year, and then it’s paid off.
If you only sell to one or two accounts you talk to every week, keep the PDF and keep your money.
Where do these numbers come from?
The timing of holiday orders comes from a Faire survey of hundreds of retailers on its marketplace, published October 21, 2024 (Faire, via Business Wire). The smaller-batches figure is from a later Faire survey, as reported by Retail TouchPoints on October 30, 2025. Neither report gives its exact sample size.
Gartner’s survey of 646 B2B buyers ran in August and September 2025.
We checked these figures and policies on October 24, 2026. Sources update their pages without notice, so confirm them at the links before you decide.
Want your buyers reordering from your own wholesale store by next Black Friday? Would it be a bad idea to see what that looks like with your own products? Book fifteen minutes or call 1-844-404-4796.
