JOOR vs Faire vs Shopify B2B: each charges differently. As of September 2026, Shopify Plus costs $3,650 CAD a month, Faire takes 15% of marketplace orders (Faire’s Help Center), and JOOR quoted us about $10,000 USD a year. Syndicate: from 500 CAD a month over one year.
Syndicate builds wholesale fashion suppliers and distributors their own online stores, so we have a stake in what you choose. We’ve used each company’s own published prices.
Why is it so hard to compare wholesale platforms?
Because none of them charge the same way. Shopify charges a monthly subscription. Faire takes a cut of each order. JOOR charges a yearly fee it won’t publish. BigCommerce starts at a published floor and then goes custom. So you end up comparing a percentage, a quote and two price lists in two currencies.
The easier way is to compare bills. Take a year of wholesale orders, run each option’s charges against it, and see what’s left.
How does each option charge you?
| Option | How you pay | Published price | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify B2B | Monthly subscription, plus card fees | Plus, needed for per-account prices: $3,650 CAD a month on a 1-year term. Regular plans: $37 to $389 a month, billed yearly, with up to 3 shared price lists | Shopify Canada, Sept 2026 |
| Faire | Commission per order, plus processing | 15% on marketplace orders, plus $10 on a new retailer’s first order; 0% on retailers you bring through Faire Direct; processing 1.9% to 3.5% + $0.30 | Faire Help Center, Sept 28, 2026 |
| JOOR | Yearly subscription | Not published; each plan says “Request Pricing.” JOOR quoted us approximately $10,000 USD a year in September 2026, plan not specified | JOOR pricing page, Sept 27, 2026 |
| BigCommerce | Monthly subscription; per-group pricing on the top plan | Price Lists only on Performance, from $1,499 USD a month billed annually; B2B Edition: “Contact us for pricing” | BigCommerce pricing, Sept 28, 2026 |
| Syndicate | Financing over one year, for a store you own | From 500 CAD a month over one year for most wholesalers, including research on up to 100 wholesale buyer leads. After that: optional care plan from 500 CAD a month, no contract | Syndicate, Sept 2026 |
What would each one cost on $100,000 a year in wholesale orders?
Say you do $100,000 a year in wholesale, as 100 orders of $1,000, all paid online by card. Percentages scale with your sales in whatever currency you sell in. Subscriptions are shown in the currency each company publishes, and we haven’t converted between them.
| Option | Platform cost for the year | Per-order costs on $100,000 |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify Plus, 1-year term | $43,800 CAD | $2,180 in card fees (2.15% + 30¢) |
| Shopify Grow, billed yearly | $1,188 CAD | $2,630 in card fees (2.6% + 30¢) |
| Faire, all marketplace reorders | $0 | $15,000 commission + $2,430 processing (30-day payout) |
| Faire, all Faire Direct | $0 | $2,430 processing (30-day payout) |
| JOOR | About $10,000 USD (quote to us) | Not included in the quote to us |
| BigCommerce Performance | From $17,988 USD | Your payment provider’s fees |
| Syndicate | Financing from 500 CAD a month over one year, then paid off | Your payment provider’s fees |
Two things stand out. Shopify’s cost depends almost entirely on whether you need per-account prices: Plus and Grow take about the same card fees, but the subscriptions are $43,800 and $1,188. Faire’s cost depends on where your retailers came from: the same $100,000 costs $17,430 if every order is a marketplace reorder, and $2,430 if every retailer came through your own Faire Direct link.
JOOR vs Faire: which costs less for a fashion brand?
It depends on your volume and on who brings in the buyers. Faire’s commission grows with your sales, while JOOR’s quote to us is a flat yearly figure. If you sell in US dollars, the $10,000 JOOR quoted us equals Faire’s 15% on about $66,700 of marketplace orders. Below that, Faire costs less. Above it, a flat fee starts to look better.
They don’t do quite the same job, though. JOOR’s pricing page says it takes no commission, includes setup, doesn’t require exclusivity, and gives Pro and Enterprise customers a dedicated client success manager. It puts its network at more than 14,000 brands and 700,000 buyers. Faire is free to join, takes on retailers’ credit risk, and charges nothing on retailers you bring yourself. If finding buyers is why you’re looking at either one, note that every Syndicate store comes with research on up to 100 wholesale buyer leads, covered below. We’ve broken down what Faire’s commission costs per order.
Where does Shopify fit?
Shopify is a store you run, not a marketplace. If every account has its own prices, you need Plus, at $3,650 CAD a month. If your accounts fit into three price groups, the cheaper plans can work, and our guide to Shopify B2B without Plus explains how to tell. Here’s everything the $3,650 a month covers.
What about BigCommerce?
BigCommerce changed its plans in 2026. Its pricing page now lists Core, Growth, Scale and Performance, all in US dollars. Per-group pricing, which it calls Price Lists, is only on Performance, from $1,499 USD a month billed annually. The B2B Edition add-on says “Contact us for pricing” in BigCommerce’s app marketplace.
In its favour, Performance includes a dedicated customer success manager, and BigCommerce charges no extra fee through its listed payment providers, including Stripe and PayPal. But BigCommerce describes Performance as a plan for businesses doing $1 million or more a year. For most independent fashion brands, that’s more platform than the wholesale side needs.
What does a Syndicate store cost?
You might have doubts about an option you’ve never heard of. Maybe you’ve seen a buyer portal nobody used. Maybe you’ve worked with an agency that disappeared. Or maybe you’d rather not be locked into anyone’s platform. Fair enough. A Syndicate store isn’t a platform you rent: you own it outright, and it runs alongside the way your buyers order today.
Syndicate’s team provides expertise specifically for fashion and eCommerce. Instead of a subscription or a commission, you pay off a wholesale store we build for you, and you own it: the domain, hosting, files and every login. Financing starts at 500 CAD a month over one year for most wholesalers. Very large or complex catalogues get a custom quote. Per-account prices are part of the store, and so is research on up to 100 wholesale buyer leads. Every lead is vetted: we confirm it’s an active business, provide contact details, and set up their account on your store with you.
After the first year, the store is paid off. There’s no commission and no platform fee. The care plan covers maintenance, security, updates and support, and it’s optional, from 500 CAD a month with no contract. We can have the store ready in as little as 7 to 10 days once we have the information we need from you.
Your current buyers can keep ordering by PDF and email for as long as they like. The store makes things easier over time, and gives new buyers, from our lead research or your own search and social traffic, a place to find you. That’s the difference from a marketplace. On Faire or JOOR, you list your products and wait to be found next to every other brand. With Syndicate, researched leads come to a store that’s yours, with no commission on their orders, and you decide which accounts get payment terms.
Which one should you choose?
- You want a marketplace to carry retailers’ credit risk, and don’t mind 15% on every order: Faire.
- You sell seasonally from linesheets and want a flat yearly cost: JOOR.
- Your accounts fit into three price groups and you’re happy to set up a store yourself: Shopify on a regular plan.
- Every account has its own prices, and you’d rather own the store than rent it: Syndicate. Compare $3,650 a month for Shopify Plus, a store you don’t own, with financing from 500 CAD a month over one year for a store you do.
- You want a store built for you, plus help finding new stockists: Syndicate, whose build includes research on up to 100 wholesale buyer leads.
What does the research say about total cost?
The subscription is rarely the biggest cost. RigbyJS’s 2026 guide to B2B platform costs estimates that setup, integrations, custom development and upkeep often run two to three times the licence fee. For mid-sized B2B businesses, it puts three-year totals at $100,000 to $300,000 for Shopify Plus and $150,000 to $400,000 for BigCommerce. Those are one agency’s estimates for companies bigger than most independent fashion brands, not a survey. The lesson still holds at any size: price the whole three years, not the first month.
We checked these prices on each company’s own pages in September 2026, and JOOR’s figure is a quote to us from the same month. They all change without notice, so double-check before you commit.
