Inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, interior designer and homeowner Divya Panwar has reimagined this 730-square-foot residence into a tranquil escape from the bustling city of Pune. The home is enveloped in warm, natural hues and earthy textures, embodying an imperfect minimalism. “ Minimalism and asymmetry were essential to the design of the apartment,” Panwar notes. The private areas are discreetly positioned off the central space, with arched openings that gently transition between the main areas.
A small foyer leads to the central living area.
The home features satin-finished beige walls, curved ceilings, and wooden flooring.
Expansive windows allow ample natural light to fill the Pune home, showcasing scenic views of nearby parks and open fields. The furniture is intentionally kept minimal, featuring a custom white cloud sofa and a solid wood coffee table, both serving as sculptural elements. A window seat creates an inviting nook, perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and a book while observing the coconut palms swaying gently outside. The open visual flow between the living, dining, and kitchen areas enhances the sense of space, while still preserving privacy and distinct functionalities.
