Kreuzberg is celebrated as one of the trendiest neighborhoods, making it an ideal location for an innovative penthouse project by Studio Bosko. This 1,539-square-foot residence underwent a complete overhaul to meet the needs of its new occupants, who relocated from Amsterdam during the pandemic. After discovering this unit, they reached out to the studio, which is led by architect Kasia Kronberger. The couple’s primary request was to design a multifunctional home with a vibrant color palette, steering away from whites and soft pastels. They envisioned a space that encouraged creativity rather than imposed limitations. Their preferences were influenced by their backgrounds: one partner is an illustrator, while the other experiences a form of color blindness that allows him to see only vivid colors. This led the studio to focus on a palette of bold primary colors—yellow, green, red, and blue. The application of color not only revolutionized the design but also promoted a of well-being among the residents, creating an inviting atmosphere.
The striking colors imbue the penthouse with personality and a distinctive character. Large windows connect the interior with the outdoors, illuminating the space and enhancing the uniqueness of each area.
The studio employed various colors to delineate the different areas within the penthouse: yellow for the kitchen, red for the dining space, and green for the living area. In the more private sections, such as the bedroom, the color scheme is subtler, incorporating wood and darker warm tones to create a restful atmosphere.
During the pandemic, the studio faced challenges due to supplier delays, which affected the project timeline. However, the creative aim remained focused: “to establish a harmonious balance between the various spaces of the home while ensuring timeless comfort,” says Kronberger. Every decision was made collaboratively with the clients to craft a home conducive to relaxation, social gatherings, and occasional work. The vision was to create an elegant apartment that feels spacious yet filled with character.
